About: Grange Hall Project

The historic Grange Hall, weathered by time, extensive use, and the island's salty climate, is in urgent need of restoration. At 165 years old, the building's structural integrity is compromised; the Grange Hall Project will stabilize the foundation and roof while also preserving the delicate windows and historic gingerbread roof details. This critical work aims to bring the building up to modern safety standards and prevent further deterioration to ensure the landmark stands for generations to come.

The Grange, built by the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society in 1859 at the island's crossroads, has long been a center of agriculture and commerce. For decades, the landmark was the hub of weekly farmers markets and the beloved Ag Fair. The Agricultural Society sold the Grange to the Town of West Tisbury in 1859 and then to Vineyard Trust in 1997 for $300,000. Vineyard Trust restored the dilapidated building, bringing it back into public use for the community.

As a valued community space, we seek your support in raising $1.5 million by the end of this year.
