About the Grange

The Grange Hall in West Tisbury, built by the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society in 1859 at the island's crossroads, has long been a center of agriculture and commerce. For decades, the landmark was the hub of weekly farmers markets and the beloved Ag Fair. The Agricultural Society sold the Grange to the Town of West Tisbury, then sold it to Vineyard Trust in 1997 for $300,000. Vineyard Trust restored the dilapidated building, bringing it back into public use for the community.

Time, extensive use, and the island's salty climate have deteriorated the historic Grange Hall. Urgent revitalization is necessary to meet modern standards, ensure safety, and address ongoing wear and tear.

As a valued community space, we seek your support in raising $1.2 million 2024 for Phase 1 to strengthen the landmark's structure, install a new roof, and preserve the hall's historic features.
